Getting started
Controls
Every key, mouse button and touch button in the game.
The game picks the control scheme by itself: a keyboard and mouse on a computer, on-screen buttons on a touch screen. You can always see the list in game under Menu, Controls.
Keyboard and mouse
Moving and fighting
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| W A S D | Move, or drive a car (the arrow keys work too) |
| Right click | Walk to that spot (hold to keep steering) |
| Right click a player | Open their player card (friend, message, crew). Never attacks |
| Left click | Attack or shoot at the cursor (hold for automatic guns) |
| Shift | Sprint (uses stamina) |
| Mouse wheel | Zoom in and out |
| 1 to 9 | Pick one of your weapon types. Press the same key again for the next weapon of that type |

| R | Quick-use a consumable (food, bandage or energy drink) |
Cars and helicopters

| F | Get in or out of a car. Also steals a stopped police car or tank, and boards a helicopter at a helipad |
| Space | Handbrake. In a helicopter: climb |
| C or Ctrl | Helicopter: descend (let go to hover) |

Interacting

| B | Manage a business or lot you own. At Casino Oro: buy it or collect |
| T | Phone (the burner). Answers a ringing story call, or calls a story contact back |
| K | GPS: clear the route, or route to your nearest property |
| H | Call crew backup (you need to be in a crew) |
| V | Hold to talk (when voice chat is on) |

| RADIO | Next radio station (in a car, where RUN sits on foot) |
| UP and DOWN | Helicopter: climb and descend (let go to hover). Shown only while flying |
| USE | Quick-use a consumable. The badge shows how many you carry. Hidden while driving |
| Weapon box | Tap to switch weapon, or tap a slot on the weapon bar |
| Pinch | Zoom in and out with two fingers |
| Menu (the three lines) | Map, phone, inventory, chat, settings and more |
| Hold to talk | Voice chat (shown when voice is on) |
| Name tag | Tap a player's name tag to open their player card |
On the map, tap a spot or a named place to set a GPS route, and tap the pin again to clear it.
Safe zones
The green circles on the map, at the starting plaza and at the hospital, are safe zones: nobody can hurt you there. See PvP.
