Weapons, police and jail
Guns and ammo, wanted stars, getting busted, jail and how to lose the cops.
Weapons
You start with your fists. Ammu-City in REDBRICK sells the rest: walk in and press E.
| Weapon | Price | Ammo | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fists | free | Melee | |
| Baseball Bat | $300 | Melee | |
| 9mm Pistol | $1,500 | 68 | |
| SMG | $1,500 | 200 | Automatic |
| Shotgun | $2,500 | 40 | Huge damage up close |
| Assault Rifle | $5,000 | 150 | Automatic, longest range |
| Grenade | $3,500 | 10 | Thrown, explodes |
| Molotov | $2,500 | 10 | Thrown, sets fire |
- Ammo refills at Ammu-City cost 25% of the gun's price, for the same amount of ammo. Pistol ammo is $125.
- Ammu-City also sells a Med Kit ($100) and bandages.
- When a gun runs dry you switch to your fists ("Out of ammo").
- You can shoot from inside a car.
Free guns
- Weapon pickups glow on the street. Each gives a random gun or knife, and comes back 30 seconds after it is taken.
- Downed cops and gang members drop their gun. A dropped gun stays for 40 seconds.
The weapon bar
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1 to 9 | Pick a weapon type. Press the same key again for the next weapon of that type |
| Q | Next weapon |
| Left click | Attack or shoot (hold for automatic guns) |
Each slot is one weapon type you own, so the numbers depend on what you carry. With every shop weapon: 1 fists, 2 bat, 3 pistol, 4 SMG, 5 shotgun, 6 rifle, 7 grenade, 8 molotov.
On a phone, tap the weapon box to switch, tap a slot on the bar, and tap the screen to shoot (or HIT to aim at the nearest target).
Wanted stars
Crimes give you wanted stars, up to 5.
| Crime | Stars |
|---|---|
| Hit a cop | +1 |
| Kill a cop | +2 |
| Hit a civilian | +0.5 |
| Kill a civilian (running people over counts too) | +1 |
| Carjack a car in traffic | +1 |
| Steal a police cruiser | +2 |
| Steal a tank | +3 |
| Sell to an undercover cop, or a deal seen by a patrol | up to 2 |
Most fights add at most one star at a time. Fighting rival gangs gives no heat, and neither does hurting civilians on your own crew's turf.
What comes after you
| Stars | Foot cops | Cruisers | Helicopters | Tanks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | |||
| 2 | 2 | |||
| 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 | |
| 4 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 1 |
| 5 | 5 | 4 | 2 | 2 |
Foot cops carry pistols, and SMGs or shotguns from 3 stars.
Losing your stars
- Lay low: you lose a star every 14 seconds without a new crime. Any new crime restarts the clock.
- Spray-N-Go in REDBRICK: drive in, pay, and your stars are gone at once. See Vehicles.
- Hide in a dumpster: press E next to one. You cannot get in while a cop is watching. Inside, stars drop off one by one (faster at low stars), and cops search around where they last saw you.
- Take out the pursuit: destroying a police cruiser or tank, or shooting down the police helicopter, takes a star off.
- Dying clears your stars (and costs the hospital fee).
Busted
At 1 or 2 stars, a cop can arrest you: on foot, standing nearly still, with a cop next to you for a couple of seconds. You see the warning A cop is cuffing you! Move! Run, and you get away.
If you are busted:
- you pay a fine of 5% of your cash, at most $2,000
- all product you carry is seized
- any job in progress fails
- you walk out of the police station in GLASSTOWN
From 3 stars up the police no longer arrest you: they shoot.
Jail
Jail is about fights between players. The rule: whoever starts a fight and kills goes to jail.
- The first player to land a hit is the aggressor. Hitting back is self-defence, with no charges.
- If the aggressor kills the other player, they go to jail at once.
- If the aggressor only hurts them, the cops come. Get busted within 150 seconds of the last hit and you go to jail too.
- A fight ends after 60 seconds without hits, or when someone dies.
How long
Sentences are counted in game days. One day is one real minute.
| Charge | Sentence |
|---|---|
| Assault | 1 day (2 days for 6 or more hits) |
| Killing a player | 3 days (3 real minutes), plus 1.5 days for each extra kill |
| Maximum | 6 days |
In jail
You sit in the holding cell at the police station, and everyone can see who is in there. The COUNTY LOCKUP panel has two buttons:
- PAY BAIL: $500 per day of your sentence. Bail shrinks as you serve time (at least $150, or the full bail if that is lower).
- WAIT IT OUT: the clock keeps running, even when you are offline.
In jail you cannot use weapons, cars or shops, and you cannot deal or be hurt by players.
