PvP
Fighting other players: the opt-in switch, PvP zones and safe zones.
Player versus player fighting is opt-in. Nobody can hurt you unless you choose it, or you walk into a PvP zone.
The PvP switch
Open the menu and click PvP: off to switch it to PvP: on.
- With PvP on, you can fight other players who also have it on.
- Switching on is instant.
- Switching off takes 60 seconds (the button shows PvP: off in 60s). Click again during the countdown to stay on.
- You cannot switch off in the middle of a fight: you have to wait 15 seconds after the last hit, given or taken. If the countdown ends mid fight, PvP switches off once the fight is over (PvP: off after combat).
The HUD shows a badge while it matters: PVP ON, PVP OFF IN 45s, PVP OFF AFTER COMBAT or PVP ZONE.
If you attack a player who has PvP off, you see They have PvP off and nothing happens.
Spotting PvP players
Players with PvP on have a red outline and a red PVP mark on their name tag. Their player card says PVP ON too.
PvP zones
Two areas are open season: everyone inside can attack everyone else inside, whatever their switch says.
| Zone | Where |
|---|---|
| Rustwater container yard | The docks waterfront in the south-west |
| Glasstown construction site | Downtown, the building site and the block west of it |
- The map marks them with a red dashed outline.
- Walking in shows the banner PvP zone: anyone can attack you. Walking out shows Left the PvP zone.
- No jail: a kill inside a PvP zone never lands you in jail, as long as both players are inside.
Safe zones
Two areas are always safe. Nobody can hurt anybody there, not even in a PvP zone or with PvP on.
- The starting plaza
- The hospital
They are the green dashed circles on the map. Inside one, the HUD shows SAFE ZONE: no PvP.
Other rules
- After you connect or respawn you are protected for 5 seconds (the HUD shows PROTECTED). Firing a shot ends your protection early.
- Every player has 100 HP in a fight.
- Killing a player pays $250 plus Combat and Respect XP.
- Fights outside PvP zones follow the jail rule: whoever starts a fight and kills goes to jail.
