Vehicles
Buying, stealing and modding cars, the police car and the tank, helicopters and the car radio.
Getting in and driving
Walk up to a car and press F (ACT on a phone) to get in or out. Drive with W A S D or the arrow keys, Space is the handbrake and E is the horn.
On a phone, the stick steers, BRK is the handbrake and RADIO changes the station.
Buying a car
Sunset Autos in GLASSTOWN sells cars. Walk in and press E. Your new car is delivered right outside.

Legendary and mythic cars are never sold at the dealer: you find them only on the player market or by crafting.
Your garage
Open it with Market in the menu, or at the Garage and Market building in PALMETTO.
- DRIVE brings the car to you. Each car exists once: pressing DRIVE again moves it to you.
- SCRAP breaks a car into 3 parts of its tier.
- Craft: 30 parts of one tier build a random car of the next tier up.
- You can also sell your cars to other players on the market.
Your inventory (I) lists every car you own.
Torque Customs: mods
Torque Customs on CORAL STRIP, at the south end of Ocean Drive, mods cars you own. Drive in and press E.

Going back to stock is free. Bikes cannot get a spoiler or tint.
Spray-N-Go
Spray-N-Go in REDBRICK is the fastest way to lose the cops. Drive in and press E.

The booth needs 2 minutes between jobs. After the story mission Dirty Badge, Spray-N-Go is half price for you.
Stealing cars

Some parked cars are one-of-a-kind cars. Parked cars are shared with everyone online: if two players go for the same car, the first one gets it.

The police car and the tank
At 3 wanted stars and up, police cruisers chase you. At 4 stars a tank joins them, and at 5 stars two tanks.
Get within a few steps of a stopped police car or tank and press F:
- Steal the police car: +2 wanted stars.
- Steal the TANK: +3 wanted stars.
The tank
A stolen tank has 300 HP (a car has 100) and a cannon:
- Fire with left click (or HIT on a phone, which aims at the nearest police vehicle).
- It reloads in 1.6 seconds. The weapon box shows READY or the reload countdown.
- The shell explodes with a 5 m blast.
- The cannon never hurts other players. Hitting cops or people raises your heat like gunfire.
Helicopters
Two helicopters wait at helipads. They are free, anyone can fly them, and you need no stars or level.

The rotor spins up for about 2 seconds before take-off. The HUD shows your altitude and speed. Top speed is about 120 km/h and the ceiling is 60 m.
Landing
- Land on the ground, a helipad or any flat roof (the hospital roof has a pad). You cannot land on water.
- You can get out only once landed on the street. On a roof, take off again and land below.
- Once landed: F gets out, Space takes off again.
- A helicopter with no health left goes down and explodes.
A helicopter left away from its pad flies itself home after 3 minutes; a wreck is replaced after 90 seconds.
The car radio
Every car has a radio with five stations of original music:
